In August 2014, Playtech invested a reported £10 million pounds in bgo Entertainment (the parent company of bgo bingo) in exchange for becoming the primary software platform for bgo and also to acquire a 33% stake in the privately held company. Since this “investment” from Playtech, we have a few reasons to be concerned. For starters, we have noticed an increasing number of complaints regarding “slow payments” to winning players. There are even complaints of bgo outright refusing to pay players on their winnings due to “irregular play” and/or “bonus abuse”. This alone would not be enough to sound alarm bells. However, “affiliate” or “marketing” partners of bgo’s have also lodged complaints of being “shorted” on their payments with bgo reps explaining the “shorting” of payments to a “bonus miscalculation” that “must be passed on to the partner”.

In addition to the above, bgo buddies (the online marketing arm of bgo entertainment) have retroactively (and unethically I might add) adjusted their compensation for players already “delivered” to them.

While we admit that companies re-negotiate deals all the time (albeit going forward as opposed to retroactively), and we understand that complaints come in (both with and without legitimate basis), and we also concede that occasional mistakes in calculations do happen from time to time – we find ourselves concerned that all three of these things are happening at the same time within this organization. The increased “noise” being made by and about bgo causes great concern for us and as a result, we are issuing a “caution” warning on the character rating of bgo entertainment. Consequently, we suggest that there are better places to play bingo in the interim (such as Lucky Pants Bingo, Sugar Bingo, or Kitty Bingo) while this “noise” plays itself out. We are not quite ready to “blacklist” bgo bingo. However, we are issuing a “only proceed with caution warning”, as well as “temporarily” downgrading the Character Rating of bgo Entertainment until the “fog” clears.

When we originally evaluated bgo, we were shocked that they were trying to fix something that was not broken (regarding their rebranding). What we no longer like about the new bgo

Originally, bgo was a bingo site that had great software, an excellent choice of games, and a great bonus to boot. Whilst the majority of that stands true, we can no longer stand behind their bonus offer. The original bgo bonus was 200% to £200, meaning that you get £200 free when you buy-in with £100. This bonus was large in size and carried a small wagering requirement. The old plan called for you to wager four times the bonus amount received. Once you did so, you were free to cash out.

Now, the bonus offer at bgo is 400% to £40. As you can see, the maximum amount of bonus money you can receive is smaller. In addition to the smaller maximum bonus, bgo has adjusted the wagering requirement on their bonus. The bonus offer now carries a 2 times wagering requirement on both the deposited amount AND the bonus received. This means that the player must wager 100 quid in order to clear the bonus. If you deposit more than the maximum bonus allows for, the excess deposited is still factored into the overall wagering requirements.

In our opinion, their previous bonus offer was bad for players and well below the “average offering” within the bingo industry. We made bgo management aware of our opinion on their bonus. They took our feedback into consideration and we are pleased to announc that bgo relaxed their wagering requirements to a level that is beneficial to all!

Our Final Thoughts

bgo Bingo does exactly what it says on the tin. Unlike many of the other sites, you can use your cash back bonus money on ANY game bgo offers. They offer more games than any other site that use their own unique software (Silo-18). All the games are licenced and regulated by the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission and bgo will easily convince you that they offer the best games online.
